We’re so proud of how many of our gap year students continue to be involved with their placement community long after they return home. Jessica Lanyon is one such example…
After a wonderful experience living and working in Uganda through Africa & Asia Venture (AV), Jessica decided she wanted to do something more for the school where she had made so many friends.
During her 3 months at Nambaale school near Jinja, she became very aware of how little sports and music equipment was available for the students so it made sense that she would focus on finding a way to give them access to more.
Jessica approached ExxonMobil and the company very generously donated funds towards the purchase of the new sports and music equipment.
The end result? We think this photograph speaks a thousand words!
Thank you Jessica and ExxonMobil – we know this equipment is hugely appreciated by the school and its pupils.
Jessica is now studying International Development at the University of Leeds and and all AV and Nambaale wish her all the best for the future.
