Today is International Volunteers Day! We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our amazing volunteers who have completed Gap Years, Summer Programs and Internships with us over the last 25 years. Africa and Asia Venture wouldn’t be the same without all your hard work and we are immensely proud of the work that we have collectively achieved in the nine countries that we work in.
Volunteering in Africa or Asia isn’t always easy, it takes you out of your comfort zone and challenges you to find solutions for problems that you might never have encountered had you stayed at home. But it is those challenges that make volunteering such a rewarding experience. When you see the excited faces of the children that you have just taught a new concept or skill too, there is no other feeling like it.
Together our AV’s have done incredible work teaching young children across Africa and Asia and helping them with their English, Sports, Drama, Music, Art and many other skills which they never expected to learn! Our AV’s have brought fresh ideas and enthusiasm to these schools that have enhanced the children’s learning and many are still in touch with the communities that they lived in because this experience ensures that you form friendships that last a lifetime.
If you have been thinking about taking a Gap Year or using your summer holiday to do some volunteering then why not check out our destination pages or take our Gap Year Quiz to find your ideal project. We promise that volunteering in Africa or Asia will change your life for the better and could open your mind to new possibilities. Celia Leng explains this better than we ever could in this short video about her time as an AV in India with the Lepcha tribe…
